Re: MoBlock - Now what....?

So you're compiling moblock on your own? I thought, we are talking about my debian package. If you're using the package, surfing (http and https) is globally whitelisted.

If you're using my...

Re: MoBlock - Now what....?

That's odd. Ports for http and https are whitelisted by default. Surfing should not be a problem.
Concearning firehol: take care! It is very unlikely that moblock / peerguardnf are coexisting nicely...

Re: Good News!

Maybe you want to look at http://moblock-deb.sourceforge.net/ first. This is also mentioned on the moblock homepage. We should not rebuild the wheel but instead help each other on improving existing...

Re: PG on Suse 9.1 linux nub

I don't want to start a new distro war, but you should use debian (or one of its derivates) or gentoo - IMHO it will pay off in the long run. I had only (great) headaches with SuSE.
Concearning the...

Why are you crossposting this?
One time should be enough.

Re: Solution for Firehol & PeerGuardian...

Did you make sure that the peerguardnf process is _really_ running?
(ps -e|grep peerguardnf or so)

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

None of these commands is supposed to change something. "iptables -L" shows your current firewall configuration, "ps aux|grep peerguardnf" is a way to check whether peerguardnf is running. Try "man...

Re: Debian Install Question?

IMHO we have a quite useful package for pglinux at
http://moblock-deb.sourceforge.net/

It does not need to restart once it is running and has some nice features.

My packages may not follow the...

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

Please have a look at /etc/init.d/peerguardnf for the commands that are changing iptables rules.

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

There are actually several REAME files. They will be installed into /usr/share/doc/moblock-ipq or /usr/share/doc/moblock-nfq or /usr/share/doc/peerguardnf - depending on the package that you...

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

Maybe you have compiled it without "make install" ;-)
Since Mepis is a debian derivative, it may make sense to try
my debian packages at http://moblock-deb.sourceforge.net/ to save you the trouble ...

Re: Can't install PG on Mepis 3-4.3

Please post the error messages that are yielded by compiling the debian packages on your system. Without them it is impossible to answer your question.
For example, you could write the output to a...

Re: Update&Init Script

In the package it's always peerguardnf in /etc/cron.daily, /etc/init.d, /etc/peerguardnf/, etc.)

Nothing official. It's just the question, whether we want to call the software peerguardian or...

Re: Update&Init Script

Looks great. I've put it all in the peerguardnf package and released a new version.

It's sort of annoying that we have this pglinux/peerguardnf/peerguardian confusion.

Any feedback concerning a...

You are right. I will try to find a better solution.

Re: repackaging pg for debian

The "state RELATED,ESTABLISHED" rule comes before the jump to QUEUE. So if peerguardian is running and a new connections is established, the rule does not match and the traffic ends up in QUEUE. If...

Re: repackaging pg for debian

That's odd indeed. By default dig uses nameservers from /etc/resolv.conf and if ping can resolve a hostname if have no idea why dig can't.

notice to users of the moblock debian package

If you have upgraded from moblock to moblock-ipq or moblock-nfq, make sure that you _really_ remove the moblock package ("dpkg --purge remove moblock")
Otherwise some scripts from the moblock package...

Just having a short look at http://firehol.sourceforge.net/commands.html?.
There is a command "iptables" for FireHOL to insert custom iptables rules.
It should be no problem to use this to add a "-j...
