Haven't read threw the whole thread but I intend to go back and do so but, from my own use with Vista, after disabling UAC, Superfetch, 70 odd services, and about 30 or so register tweaks, It works...

Your best bet would be getting a good book (or pdf) and starting with good old ANSI-C, from there I would read a primer on C++.
After that you really have two ways to go, you can learn W32 API and...

Yes they can get name recognition, but currently all the funds are paid for out of my paypal/secondary bankaccount so regardless of who they are sent to they end up coming to me at this point.

For me it isnt bad considering I just upgraded to 7800GTX/3800+ Dual Core/4GB's of ram, but harddrives are only so fast for fraps.
Other people tend to get 3-5 fps though during vael, hes hell o lag.
