i have a really weird problem in vista ultimate. pg2 worked perfectly after installing, but after closing pg2 or restarting the computer, when i open it back up it doesn't block anything. in order to get it to block things i have to delete the pg2.conf and reconfigure it. anyone have a solution to this?

::edit:: it seems to be a problem with the generation of the list cache. if i remove one thing from the list manager and let it generate a new list cache, it works fine

Does this version actually block anything? I haven't gotten one block yet. I play Guild Wars and I'd have to allow a block of IPs in order to connect. This version isn't blocking anything from PlayNC.

This has been addressed on the RC1 page:

http://phrosty.phoenixlabs.org/pg2-rc1/

...Unfortunately, the certificate to perform this signing costs from $300-$500 USD/year. Until Phoenix Labs is able to afford one, Vista x64 users will need to perform the following steps...

Ok i started to notice that I wasn't getting the blocks that I usually get when visiting some sites. So I went into my log and notice that I haven't had a single UDP block which is a little unusual. I did find out that PG2 is still blocking UDP connections as usual though but in this process I did find that the function for blocking an IP for 15 min does not work. I would right click a IP that is not in the blocklist in the main window and tell it to block for 15 min and then i would copy the IP to the clip board and tried pinging that IP. All packets received and none lost.

So my conclusion to the test I went through to check if PG2 was still blocking like it was supposed to turned out with these results. It still blocks 100%. So the IPs i usually see blocked could have just been removed from the blocklist in a update. But the block for 15 min option is broken, unless I am doing something wrong when testing to see if that IP that I blocked for 15 min is blocked.

The allow IPs for 15 mins is also broken. Usually PG2 will freeze or not respond for me.

I had the same problems that others had in that PG2 in Vista did not seem to be blocking anything. What I did was to uninstall then reinstall PG2 but without copying over my ALLOW lists from my XP install. It started to blocking web sites that I visited and the ones I wanted I simply created a new ALLOW list using PG2 under Vista. I had to reinstall the program because removing the copied ALLOW list did not seem to work.

At least for me it seemed to have a problem blocking under Vista when you have copied an ALLOW list from a previous install. I can verify it's working because I get the usually blocks for "ServerBeach emule servers |p2p fake files" when I visit this site.

Working perfectly now!! Will report back if things revert back.

Howdy. I went and registered (very easy, by the way, I like) and will probably only ever post in this thread, but what the hell, gonna give some feedback where I can.

Running Vista x64 Ultimate, followed the 64 bit install directions and installation went just fine. Loaded it up, updated all my lists, all was well.

As with the older PG versions, it blocked all my Xfire IPs and Ports, so I went through and permanently allowed all of them. Somewhere in the process of that, the program locked up (Not Responding), and I had to kill the process.

From that point on I could not get it to load properly. It showed in the task manager and that was about it, no tray, nothing popped up, just a quick hourglass and nothin'. Now, I see people saying it doesn't show in the systray sometimes, and that very well could have been the issue.

Went in and deleted the lists (except my allowed list), and tried again and it loaded up fine. Seem to have all my Xfire ports taken care of now, and haven't had any more problems with it. But I've only had it now for like 10 minutes, so, who knows. I'll keep you guys posted if I run into anything else.

Either way, thanks a ton for all your work on it. PG was one of the things I missed most when I made the Vista upgrade, it's nice to have it back :) Next time I have some $, you guys just might get a donation.
