Default Is Relakks or BTGuard trustworthy?

I need a proxy service. I've read about BTGuard on Torrentfreak but it seems like they are hosted in the US and have servers in Canada, which doesn't sit well with me. They claim they do no log any ips, but just don't feel like I could trust it.

The other service I've found is Relakks, they are hosted in Sweden so it seems to be better choice. But they only have the price in Euro, can I pay for it with an US credit card? Anyone used either of these services? Please chime in, thanks.

not a fan of using P2P over a proxy service.
you will get poor results at best.

i would avoid using a proxy service in Sweden

Damn, any recommendations? I don't mind a speed hit, as long as I can get 50k/s average speed I'm ok with it. Another service I found is SwissVPN, they are based in Switzerland, but I can't find a monthly price for their service.

Just bought a month access of a paid VPN, I created a VPN connection and when I check my IP with WhatIsMyIP.com it comes out as a the VPN's IP. But, do I need to configure BT and eMule programs defferently or will they automatically go through the VPN? Thanks.

Edit: I tried allowing the VPN's IPs and then turning on eMule, but I still get a lot of US and UK IP blocks. Shouldn't ALL my traffic be routed to the VPN's country first? So I should only be seeing VPN country's IP right? What am I doing wrong?

I'm using BTGuard now, almost for 2 weeks now and I've been downloading non-stop.

Good service, proxy is reliable and trackers aren't blocking it like some people are claiming.
I'm downloading 3 torrents right now (each about 700meg - 1gig) 230kbps download - 150kbps upload. That's roughly the speed I would get if I was not using the proxy.

To make yourself more secure and 'anonymous' you need to follow through the second step of blocking incoming connections.

BTGuard is encrypted, and since Canada does not require them to keep logs, they don't.

It's the best way to keep yourself private downloading torrents. VPN's keep logs, the one you were talking about keeps your logs for the past 3 months.

Hope this answers your questions.

Cheers.

I've been using a VPN that has servers in Asia, I doubt they can get to those logs. BT Guard is based in Canada, I wouldn't want to use any VPN that's in North America.

Exclamation Re: Is Relakks or BTGuard trustworthy?

I've been using BTGuard for about 6 months now. Before I started using it, I got caught downloading/uploading (sharing) a few mainstream TV shows/movies via uTorrent. My ISP (COX) would block my interwebz until I called and said I deleted the copyrighted content. I feel that BTGuard has saved me for the most part, however, twice in the past month I've been caught sharing 2 HBO shows (True Blood and Entourage). I've written BTGuard a couple times, asking how this could be, but they never respond. I will be writing "The Dog" from Maximum PC Magazine to get an answer. All-in-all I feel it's worth the $6.95. Caveat emptor!

Did you receive the warning in the mail or did Cox block your internet again? If you received warning in the mail, it could mean BTGuard is giving out your info under pressure. If it's Cox blocking you though, then probably it means BTGuard is just a scam.
